Don't normally buy extended warranties, but... April 17, 2009

I normally don't buy extended warranties but with my new Macbook Pro and monitor I will be transporting it around to various photography workshops and any time you travel you increase wear and potential for damage. I bought from Amazon as they sold the AppleCare slightly cheaper than Apple did directly. Plus having worked int he consumer electronics industry I understand thathigh end electronics can be sensitive. Alot of people who review things on Amazon believe technology should be perfect (no bugs, no defects, etc) and that is just not realistic. To keep prices affordable durability tradeoffs are made by companies, even Apple. It's a statistical tradeoff which I understand. I have used my AppleCare once on my wife's Macbook pro and it paid for itself on that one repair.
