Code scanner - Equus 3123 for GM products September 27, 2009 W. Gardner (Martinsville, VA) This product would not work on my 94 Pontiac although it is listed as a vehicle it will scan on. I have read in forums that other purchasers suffer the same fate -
Good for what its worth September 23, 2009 R. Boyd (California) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
It is a great tool for what it does. It is very simple and compact and light. It will flash the light on the dash and give you a flashing code that you look up but you might be surprised to know that all you really need is a paper clip and the knowledge of which 2 pins in the OBD1 connector to short together and you will save money. Please be sure you know which 2 pins before you try anything maybe even if you have a technician that you know or go to could give you some incite but they might not. The pins that must touch for engine codes are A and B. For ABS(anti-lock braking system) you must touch pins A and H. Hope this helps you in your diagnosis.

I have a 1994 1/2 ton c1500 Chevrolet Pickup with a 6.5L diesel engine. I only found out after reading in the manual that it won't work on diesel engine. That was not said in the descriptionon Amazon website.

This product is inexpensive and does the basic job its intended. if you are a weekend mechanic on older vehicles it works fine. Nothing fancy, just works.
Easy to use reader. July 11, 2008 J. Sterling 6 out of 7 found this review helpful
I use it on my 1987 IROC Camaro which has two methods of diagnosing the Engine lights. One is a jumper cable, the other is using a tool such as this. All I have to do is pop it in, turn the key to ON, and read the codes. Very simple, very light, does not require a degree to use. The booklet that comes with it has a list of codes, their descriptions, and how to start collect the codes from the ECU. However, any GM car repair manual will/should have the same list. It is cheap, and it does what I need it to do.
