Accompanied by a "PowerCard" to record account information, this make-believe ATM machine features an electronic screen, an alpha-numeric keypad, and slots for cards, coins, and bills. Insert the card into the appropriate slot and enter a personal ID to get a personal greeting and an exact balance. You can also insert real dollar bills and coins, and the machine will add those amounts to the account. A cash drawer at the bottom pops open for withdrawals. The beeps, lights, and robotic voice resemble those one might find on a spaceship; it's almost as if you're withdrawing funds from the HAL 9000 rather than the ATM machine down the block. Also, the language seems a bit beyond the toy's target audience. ("Enter your name and secret PIN number for real personalized banking.") By the time children are old enough to use and understand this toy, it's possible they'll have outgrown it. The machine mounts easily to a wall, or you can set it on top of a dresser. --Andy Boynton

I think that it is a wonderful toy and would recommend it to any parent that is looking for a neat and not your run of the mill piggy bank. It is fun for all ages.. You can keep money in it or anything else because it has a large storage compartment. I use it for just about anything that I don't want left out or to be kept private. Out of the four grading categories, 1. How much fun is this toy? 2. How would you rate this toy's educational value? And 3. How durable is this toy I gave them all 5 out of a possible 5 stars. For #1 it is a lot of fun and I love to put things in and take things out and it is awesome compared to regular just put in your money piggy banks. For #2 I think it would be very educational for a child because they learn to save and learn how banking works and they will always use it because they want to keep their savings or allowance safe. For #3 I have dropped it many times and tipped it over and stepped on it and it still ran perfect. But for #4 (How do you rate this toy overall) I only gave it 3 stars because if you ever forget the password and have to reset it or change the batteries then you are out of luck for ever. If you forgot your password and had to reset it you have to enter the original one (1234) and that is the only one you will ever be able to use after that as far as I know.. But it is ok because I don't keep much in it and no one would really think I would put something so easy as 1234 so I am still happy with the product. I am actually 23 going on 24 and bought it 2 years ago and I love it. So that goes to show that it is goof for all ages J Just be careful with putting in to many bills because it could jam up if not opened bills moved off to the side. I hope this helps and would love to answer any questions anyone may have.

My 9 year old daughter loves this toy. She has more interest in saving money with this machine than a reguler piggy bank. Good educational toy!

My daughter received this as a gift for Christmas 2006. The bank still works and she uses it often. She has not had to replace her batteries since she got it and she accesses it about once or twice a week. It is essentially a calculator and my daughter likes it for that reason. She doesn't have to count her money. It receives a low educational rating for the reason she likes it. The calculator does the work and manually adding and subtracting money is a great way for kids to sharpen their math skills. The only thing my daughter doesn't like about it is that it doesn't have an entry for $2 bills. However, I would consider this a minor drawback unless someone collects $2 bills.

I bought two a few years ago. The door at the bottom broke on one of the the first day, but my husband rigded it back somehow. My girls used the banks for a year and now only one uses it sometimes. Overall, I think it is a good educational toy. Sometimes entering the money (if a lot at one time) can be time consuming. They liked them a lot at the beginning because they felt like they were a little more grown and responsible.
